Anchors Aweigh

2017-08-31 10.19.27Savour the summer with our Anchors Aweigh Little Box of Sunshine. We’re back from our family holiday in Norfolk. As I write this nautical themed post, I’m savouring the summer memories. Here I am flanked by the kids; Kate, Ellie, Rosie, Pete and Emily and Ben. Then we’re all heading off to Holkham beach. There’s something restful and invigorating about the long horizontal line of sand, sea and sky. It makes me think that anything is possible.

Still0901_00000For our Sunshine Box tutorial, we thought that anchors would be a fun new line design and then we fell in love with the whole range of   Sarah Watts’     SS Bluebird All Aboard fabric from Cotton + Steel. We chose this anchor and hearts fabric but the whole range was lovely.  Our Moonshine Bags teach a wave progression.  For our thread choices we went for a cone of variegated blues  from Superior Threads’ Fantastico range and a Gold Metallic #007. We thought that they could be used interchangeably with both the anchors and the waves.

We think that these pre-wound Bottom Line bobbins are a real lifesaver! Pre-wounds hold 118 yards of Bottom Line thread – a thread that’s designed to go in your bobbin but it’s great for hand and machine applique AND sewing the binding. You can even get lots of colours in a handy donut!

We’ve added a few extra bobbins as a thank you for being so patient this month. Enjoy the last of the summer sun stitching your memories. Our Little Box of Sunshine is available as a monthly subscription or your can purchase them as a one off, if a particular Box tickles your fancy. They make great presents too!
